Philodendron Monstera

$32.00
The Monstera, often mistakenly called the Philodendron Monstera, is a spectacular tropical plant, famous for its large, glossy, dissected leaves that give it an exotic and sculptural appearance. Although it shares similarities with the Philodendron genus, it actually belongs to the Monstera genus, with the Monstera Deliciosa variety being the most well-known. Native to the rainforests of Central America, this plant climbs trees using its aerial roots, thriving in moist, shaded areas of the canopy.

Its unique characteristics, including the perforations and cuts on its leaves, are a natural adaptation that allows light and rainwater to better reach its roots in dense forests. Indoors, the Monstera brings a modern, tropical feel while being relatively easy to care for. It prefers bright, indirect light, although it tolerates low light conditions, making it versatile. However, too much direct light risks burning its leaves.

For care, this plant requires well-drained soil, rich in organic matter, and a pot with a good drainage system to prevent waterlogging. Watering should be moderate: it is recommended to allow the soil surface to dry slightly between waterings. During the growing season, in spring and summer, weekly watering is often sufficient, while in winter, the frequency can be reduced. Monstera also thrives in moderate to high humidity, and its leaves benefit from regular wiping to remove dust and allow for better respiration.

With its unique aesthetic and robustness, Monstera is an ideal plant for greenery lovers looking to add an exotic touch to their home without requiring intensive maintenance.
